Position Summary
The Process Piping Superintendent is responsible for leading and supporting field operations on commercial and industrial piping construction projects. This role serves as the primary field leader for manpower planning, workforce productivity, performance management, and technical support of Foremen. The Superintendent ensures projects are staffed appropriately, work is executed safely and efficiently, and field teams have the resources and guidance necessary to achieve project objectives.
The Superintendent acts as the liaison between field personnel, project management, fabrication, and company leadership while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule adherence and workforce development.

Position Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Workforce Planning & Manpower Management
- Develop and execute manpower plans to support project schedules and labor budgets.
- Coordinate workforce allocation across multiple projects to maximize efficiency and resource utilization.
- Monitor labor requirements and proactively adjust staffing levels to meet changing project demands.
- Work with Operations and Project Management to forecast labor needs and workforce availability.
- Monitor labor productivity and crew performance across all assigned projects.
- Analyze production metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide coaching and direction to Foremen regarding labor efficiency, planning, and execution strategies.
- Ensure crews are working in accordance with project budgets, schedules, and company productivity expectations.
- Conduct regular field observations and performance evaluations.
- Address performance deficiencies and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
Technical Leadership & Foreman Support
- Serve as the primary technical resource for Foremen in the field.
- Provide guidance regarding installation methods, constructability issues, sequencing, commissioning requirements, and industry best practices.
- Assist Foremen in resolving complex field challenges and technical conflicts.
- Review project drawings, specifications, schedules, and installation plans with field leadership.
- Support implementation of company standards, quality requirements, and installation procedures.
- Mentor and develop Process Piping personnel and emerging field leaders.
Project Coordination & Communication
- Act as liaison between field operations, project management, fabrication, safety, and executive leadership.
- Participate in project planning, coordination meetings, and progress reviews.
- Communicate project status, labor performance, risks, and resource needs to management.
- Support project teams in maintaining schedule commitments and resolving field issues.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities when required.
Safety Leadership
- Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular site visits and safety observations.
- Ensure Foremen maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Foster a culture of safety accountability throughout the workforce.
- Ensure Process Piping installations meet contract documents, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards.
- Support quality inspections, deficiency resolution, and commissioning activities.
- Verify work is completed correctly the first time to minimize rework and project delays.
- Promote continuous improvement and standardization of installation practices.
Leadership & Workforce Development
- Build and maintain a high-performing field organization.
- Identify and develop future Foremen and field leaders.
- Conduct training, mentoring, and leadership development activities.
- Support employee engagement, retention, and succession planning initiatives.
- Promote company values and professional conduct throughout the field workforce.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of commercial and industrial Process Piping construction experience.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive field leadership experience as a Foreman, General Foreman, or Superintendent.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and field teams simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of Piping systems, piping systems, equipment setting, and commissioning processes.

- Ability to walk jobsites, climb ladders, access elevated work areas, and conduct field inspections.
- Occasional extended work hours based on project requirements.
